Difference between quant dev and SWE?
I work on execution services/an ATS at a company that works with some big HFT firms. I write mostly C++ and some Python to expand/support our infra. I also do a good bit of support for our clients (shell scripting + SQL). Our system also does some risk analysis and algorithmic execution (although I have not personally modified this code yet). My compensation is a bit under 200k and has a lot of uncapped bonus potential (but it realistically will be in the 20-30% range).
I know broadly how a quant dev differs from a SWE, but since I do not feel like I have not really done any mathematical work, would this be considered a type of quant dev? I've just been calling it a SWE job since that is what my job title officially is, but a partner at my company referred to me as a quant dev a few days ago.
