Hi - first time posting so apologies if I get anything wrong. I wasn't sure what information/background would be helpful and didn't want to write an unnecessary essay, so please let me know if there's anything I should add.

I decided to straighten my hair for the first time in years. I washed with Shea Moisture bamboo charcoal shampoo then Keracare moisturising shampoo. Deep conditioned with Shea Moisture strengthen & restore using hooded dryer attachment. Rinsed in cool water, then applied a small amount each of CHI silk infusion, CHI iron guard, and Color Wow extra strength dream coat. I blow dried with the Revlon styler/dryer (combination of the oval one and the paddle brush) and this is the result...! It's just so weightless and flyaway and wispy.

Is there any point even trying to flat iron from here? Is there anything obvious I've done wrong or that would cause this result?

I don't understand my hair very well but just a few points that might be relevant:

- It's natural (other than the colour, which is just Manic Panic over virgin hair - no bleach etc.) and I don't normally use heat so I don't think there's any damage.
- I think my hair is both very fine and very low density. I'm happy enough with my normal curls but defintely can't boast any volume (second photo is normal hair).
- Hard water area.

Is there any point flat ironing? Please help me understand my hair...
