My best friend's (25f) boyfriend (25m) burned down the kitchen.
Hello guys. My best friend's boyfriend burned down the kitchen in her apartment. So he spent the night at her place, morning came and he wanted to fry eggs.
However, when he turned on the stove on high temperature and put the fat/oil in the pan, he did not know that the pan should be completely dry. Chaos ensued, it started to rain heavily, he suffered severe burns on his neck, chest and shoulder. Plus he was panicking, so he forgot to turn off the stove and a fire started. After that, he went out on the terrace, called the fire brigade, put out the fire and that was it.
My friend was not in the apartment at the time, she was going shopping, to the nearest store, which is 1.5 - 2 km from their apartment. She managed to return only when the firemen extinguished the fire. The total damage in the end amounts to €10,000. The apartment belongs to her aunt, it's an understatement to say that she was in shock when she came and saw what the kitchen looked like.
They are desperate, they literally don't know what to do. The first option they considered was for her to move in with him. As for compensation, it is not yet known how it will be carried out.
I would add that I remember that she told me that she told him at the beginning of the relationship that she would not cook for him and he accepted it. The fact is that he is not a very good cook and that he was actually in the process of learning to cook (baby steps).
TL;DR: What would you do and how would you react to him if you were in my friend's place?
