Dumb meal prep question.
So, me and my fiance live together. She was never taught much how to cook growing up, (I've taught her some basic things, like baked potatoes and box Mac n cheese,) and while I love to cook, I also work a lot more than her, and often after a shift I feel too exhausted to actually cook. This leads to us eating fast food or getting shitty or expensive frozen foods a lot more often than I'd like.
I figure, the hardest part of cooking for me is actually cooking the protein. We've done some meal prep before, but I feel like it often goes to waste as I get tired of eating the same food over and over.
So I made a plan to get a crap ton of chicken breasts, cook them in chicken broth in my crock pot, shred it up, and then freeze it in about 1lb containers. Chicken is versatile and where I live, cheap, so I figure it'll be easy to just heat it up, add a few things to make it something else, (like Taco seasoning for tacos, some sauce and make sandwiches, add it to a salad, etc.) and that would make cooking a lot easier for me.
My question is, is there any reason why this plan wouldn't work? I don't wanna spend a bunch on chicken and then accidentally waste it.
