Invading privacy

Im curious if anyone experienced it: my ex knew my passwords to google account, same with codes to my devices. He was spying on me before I brokenup with him, but found out shortly after. I guess its some kink of being in charge and having control over me. Did anyone experience it or been in similar situation?
