What sort of housing is there for someone who's homeless and returning back home to The Oc aside from shelters?

Not me but a friend is planning to return to the oc and us homeless. They will be getting out of trade school in a month but they would like to return to oc as soon as possible likely a week after they graduate school.

They will likely be homeless at that time but already have a job with Amazon Flex they can do in l.a.

While he works Amazon flex and saves up for a place to live what are his options aside from going to a shelter or living in his car?
