Do I need to hire a lawyer?

Question

I was diagnosed in 1989 with Multiple Sclerosis. My condition had been pretty mild up until around 2017 or so. I am 58 years old I was working full time, and driving 20 miles to my job. In 2020, my doctor wrote an order for me to only work part time from home. My job allowed that, so I worked until January this year. They gave me a very relaxed schedule, and it was very doable. I ended up getting laid off in January because our census numbers had declined so much they had to cut back. I totally agreed, I wasn’t doing much, but was being paid $18 per hour. I tried to get unemployment, but had to apply for full time. I was only applying for at home work, and in my application I explained my disability, hoping beyond hope I could find something very calm I could do. I never got any offers. When my unemployment ran out, I quit looking. I haven’t been able to go to a neurologist since 2020 since mine retired. When I went part time my insurance stopped and I couldn’t afford to keep going. I can walk, but not much. My right leg is very weak. I have to always stop to rest. It’s also hard to concentrate. It takes me extra time to read, or even decide what to do next. Do I need to hire an attorney, or if not, what advice can I get? I live in North Texas, 30 miles from Dallas
