First egg a couple months before I expected it…
This gal has been really insistent about pushing her way inside the house every time I open the door the past few days and I had just kicked her out before I went to pick up my kid from school. (Found her nesting in my laundry a couple days ago!)
She’s an absolute ninja. I have access for cats to come in and out of the house, and she knows how to use it if she escapes the yard, and I haven’t figured out how she’s escaping the yard without the other chickens following her.
So I get home from pickup and cannot find her ANYWHERE. I went looking over at the neighbors, looking under all the bushes and my kid finally saw her, hiding in the bookcase. (With a cold egg she must have managed to lay yesterday without me knowing????)
I wasn’t expecting eggs until October. 😳
I’m not mad, though. Girl IS gonna have to learn to lay in the nesting box, though, so… any tips?
