RGIPT scams — How education here has turned into a business

I’m a student at RGIPT, and I’ve seen enough to believe that the system here is more about making money than providing quality education. Here are just a few examples:

  1. Library fines – If you take a book and return it after 3–4 months, you can be fined around ₹1500. I had to pay because they threatened to hold my grade sheet if I didn’t.
  2. Fee extortion for entry – If you haven’t paid your fees on time, you’re not allowed to enter campus. I’ve seen students waiting outside from morning to evening without food or water, and nobody cares.
  3. Hostel early arrival charges – If you come back to the hostel before the official date, you have to pay ₹50 per day plus charges for mess food per day.
  4. C-block hostel scam – They allotted C-block to students, then suddenly announced that C-block residents must pay 1.5× the normal rate.
  5. Internships = ZERO – The number of internships the college provides to students? Zero.
  6. Placements reality – You pay ₹15 lakh for your degree and end up with a ₹3 LPA job (if you’re lucky). Meanwhile, placement statistics are often manipulated to make the college look better than it is.

This isn’t just poor management — it feels like a full-on business model where students are the customers being milked at every step.

Has anyone else faced this kind of exploitation at RGIPT(Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology).Amethi
