I actually ordered these while ago but was waiting for the last one to arrive.

In my goal to create my perfect PS2 I had to go out of my way to get a NTSC-J SCPH-39000, why that one? for one I personally like the SCPH-390XX over the SCPH-500XX I find they are more reliable as I have come across more faulty SCPH-500XX than any of the others. And no this is not due to them being more popular, I find a lot more SCPH-300XX and SCPH-390XX than I do SCPH-500XX in the wild at least in the UK.

Now onto faulty units funny enough none of them are SCPH-50003 I got 2 SCPH-30003 one is a normal one and the other is the R unit. and last but not least is the SCPH-39003 which is as I have mentioned before on here seems to be the more common unit to have the top loader shell swaps done to them I did buy these 3 knowing they had issues, I actually specifically needed them for another project I am doing so I didn't need them to work, another reason I got this was the toploader is different from the ones I commonly see, this one actually has button and a spring in it so it in theory should pop up when the button is pressed. well in theory anyway, the spring is too weak and the magnet on the spindle doesn't let it open just with the button.

So from left to right is

SCPH-39003 which has graphical issues and reads CD, DVD, and DVD-9 discs, It also has the toploader topshell

SCPH-39000 which I have yet to test I need to swap the PSU in it, but this is going to be "My Perfect PS2" project unit.

SCPH-30003 which has graphical issues and reads DVD's but not CD's

SCPH-30003R which works fine but reads CD's but not DVD's

Time to share finally!!!
