What Could Disrupt the Quiet Luxury Revived Market in 2025?

Quiet luxury seems to be everywhere right now, but I'm curious what people think could shake things up in the next year or so, specifically looking at 2025.It feels like hype cycles are getting shorter, and a backlash against the understated wealth vibe seems plausible.

One thought is a return to maximalism - not necessarily the over-the-top gaudiness of the early 2000s, but maybe a more refined, intentional use of color, pattern, and embellishment. something that feels expressive and individual rather than deliberately understated. we've already seen glimpses of this with statement jewelry making a comeback.

Another possibility is sustainability becoming the defining luxury. Right now, sustainable brands are frequently enough priced in the luxury bracket, but even more innovative materials or truly circular business models could shift the perception of "luxury" away from just high price tags and exclusivity, towards ethical production and longevity. If that happens, brands focused solely on conventional definitions of luxury might struggle to keep up.
