How do you describe this game that is unwinnable?

not because of distance as that can be travelled

not because of time as it has been two decades and the feeling has not faded

I tried dating, but they can't compare to your charisma

I held other hands, but the discomfort I felt knowing its not yours is an enigma

I made out with others, soft as they may be, not as soft as your smile

I tasted flesh, hot as they may be, not as hot as your style

A Wise man said this is not love, but...

it's something else entirely, surely I can't rebut.

nothing was physical between us, my adoration is even ignored

my messages left on seen, is my attention abhorred?

if you like me, will I get an answer? if you hate me, will it make a difference?

or is the Wise man correct that the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference?
