Day 1 of taking over my dad's logistics business (import/export)

How do I?

My dad has a logistics business (imports and exports various products globally, from medical machines to dashing cars). Locally, he’s the go-to guy for small to medium fish — the big fish usually prefer companies with their own transport, etc. His USP is giving every client top priority, charging less than most, and being an expert in clearing goods.

He’s asked me to start gradually taking over. He’ll still be around for the next 2–3 years to teach me his trade secrets. But here’s the thing — he’s super traditional. No website, no social media, nothing digital.

He’s been in this game for 17 years and knows the old-school way better than anyone. I want to open the digital gates, but I don’t want to mess up the trust and reputation he’s built.

So Reddit, I need your help

-How do I get clients in today’s world?

-What mistakes should I avoid (especially with duties, customs, and client relationships)

-How do I get clients to trust me, since there is no digital footprint

-Any tips from people in logistics & import-export who’ve been through this?
