Matching hijab and chemise/top/tshirt… ugly?

Asalamu Alaikum sisters

I am 18 and a ~fairly new hijabi (almost a year or a year and a half. not that new, but oh well… still learning)

Im currently on vacation and was so excited to wear pastel colors like butter yellow since it’s very summery vibish and might make me look more youthful since the hijab tends to make us look a bit older. I paired it with a very similar yellow chemise and everything else was black (black skirt, black undershirt) and it was really modest

Anyway I walked around people I’m with like normal and some of them complimented my outfit but my mom didnt like it when she saw me and told me it was ugly (matching the hijab color with the chemise) and didn’t look good… I’m just wondering if I made a fool of myself in front of everyone AHAHA does it really look bad? pairing a hijab as the same color of the top im wearing? would appreciate opinions on this

tldr: wore a hijab color thats exactly the same as the chemise i wore. mom said it’s ugly doing that. is it???
