Odd experience in Warsaw
During my holiday, I spent one night in Warsaw visiting some bars. As I was leaving one bar to go to another (I was not drunk), three strangers crossed our path. I was with a friend, and we were speaking Spanish (we both grew up in Spain). I am of mixed heritage, with an African father and a European mother – I am not sure whether this played a role in what happened.
In the middle of the street, which was busy because it was lined with bars, one of the men made a gesture with his fists towards my stomach, as if he were stabbing me. He did not have a knife, but the movement clearly mimicked that action.
This incident has been on my mind for the past few days. I have never experienced anything like this before, and I have travelled widely within Europe.
While visiting the city for a few days, I noticed that people generally kept to themselves and avoided making eye contact in the street (I was invisible to them, so to speak), except for those working in bars, restaurants, and shops who were kind of approachable.
How would you interpret this?
