Meditating again and falling into old habits

Question ❓

I have started to meditate daily again after a fairly long period of stopping.

When I previously meditated I developed my personal method (based on vipassana I think?) Focus on breath, feel body sensations, the sensations rise or fill my body or are felt outside my body, whatever they want to do, and at this time I hear a high pitched sound and I gaze with an unfocused stare into my closed eyelids. Stop focusing on breath, it slows down to almost nothing, allow the sensations and sound to intensify (or not, whatever they want to do), allow inner dialogue but do not identify with it, just watch it and sometimes it will cease. Say short simple mantra if i feel it’s hard to detach from it. Sometimes it’s a song for example and I feel the need to press the stop button by saying mantra a few times.

I don’t really do this process consciously, it just happens like this one after the next. The only thing I do is start to watch my breathe and the rest follows.

Now that I’m getting back into it I’m noticing that I’m quite stuck in this method, even after not practicing for about 6 months. I have never had any instruction so I’m just curious, what do teachers or experienced meditators think about this? Any guidance, thoughts and criticisms are welcome.
