Had to push point alone while peeling for everyone… tanks, what would you do?
So I’m a main tank/support, and today I had a match running Emma with Cloak & Dagger and Jeff on support.
We asked Jeff multiple times to switch because his healing just wasn’t there. I kept dying trying to push point, enemy damage was way too high so I had to constantly back off. Cloak & Dagger at some point says, “Why are you moving off point? Bubble is there, healing is on point.” Like… I’m taking too much damage, I can’t just stand there and melt. You can’t keep me alive with only your bubble, and Jeff’s little puddles were doing nothing.
Our DPS were awful too. Cloak & Dagger started complaining about not getting peeled from Spider-Man, and they also had Venom. I was looking back and grabbing Spidey whenever I could, same with Venom, but I was solo frontline because our second tank (Cap) was in their backline killing their supports. That meant I had to push point and couldn’t babysit backline all game.
I feel like peeling sometimes is fine, especially if a support gets ulted right in front of me, but I can’t constantly turn around when nobody else is pushing point. In my mind, DPS should help peel too, especially if I’m the only one contesting objective.
At the end of the game, our Cloak & Dagger basically said, “horrible tanks and DPS,” and claimed Jeff and Cap were the only ones doing anything. Meanwhile, I had the same stats as our Cap, and our DPS had 8 and 10 final hits. Us tanks had 6 and 5, while their DPS had 17 and 18.
Anyway, we lost (shocker) because we had no proper support ults. Jeff was basically playing DPS with a healing title.
So my question to other tanks: • Is this just a skill issue for me? • What would you do in situations like this? • Do you peel no matter what, or focus on point control if you’re the only frontline?
