NYS attendance policy

I work for a large company in NY. We just got notification of a new attendance policy stating that if we were to call out on a day that someone is already scheduled off that a doctor's not may be required. From what I understand about NY state law, they can only ask for a note after three consecutive days out. Is anyone familiar with NY law able to tell me that I am correct in fighting the new policy?
