Applying for a lease on an apartment for the first time - would pending criminal charges show up or prevent acceptance?

Hello,

I am looking at moving out on my own but I allegedly had some troubles with an ex partner earlier this year which resulted me in getting charged with harassment. My lawyer doesn't believe it'll stick but it's going through proceedings right now (not in trial yet). But based on what I've researched, the landlord/rental company can or will perform a background check. Would pending charges show up? And I'm assuming it'd prevent me from getting accepted?

I have a strong credit score, and employment record (I make a very healthy salary) with a professional designation.
