Please point to an official statement that refutes anything below, but to my knowledge there has been nothing released that counters the possibility that BK was Pappa Rodger.

On Aug 11, this post was made stating as that LE had "confirmed" that BK was not Pappa Rodger. But, it was a second-hand account from Idaho Statesman reporter Kevin Fixler.

I can't prove definitively that BK was PR. But, at the same time, there is nothing definitive about any of the arguments against. Let me summarize.

Arguments FOR BK being Pappa Rodger

• Insider-sounding knowledge
  • PR mentioned the knife sheath before police publicly revealed it.
• Similar academic style
  • PR’s questioning in discussions resembled Kohberger’s criminology research survey language and structure.
• Profile photo resemblance
  • PR’s profile picture looked like an aged/military-style image of Kohberger.
• Timing of disappearance
  • The original PR account stopped posting and vanished right after Kohberger’s arrest.

On this last point:

• Last confirmed PR activity:
  • Screenshots from FB group admins show Pappa Rodger posting on Dec 21 and Dec 22, 2022 — including a house diagram and speculative commentary.
  • This is after BK’s documented cross-country drive with his father on Dec 15, 2022.
• Arrest date:
  • BK was arrested in Pennsylvania on Dec 30, 2022.
• Account disappearance:
  • By Jan 5, 2023, group admins reported PR’s posts and chats had been “wiped from FB.”
  • No credible, timestamped posts from the original account exist after Dec 22, 2022.
• Fake account activity:
  • After the original account vanished, impostor/clone “Pappa Rodger” profiles began appearing in early January 2023, posting unrelated or troll content.
  • These fakes are what some people mistakenly cite as PR “posting after the arrest.”

Now, let me address some of the commonly raised counter-arguments:

Arguments AGAINST (with refutations)

• Official disavowal by law enforcement
  • Claim: Police said there’s “no connection” between BK and PR.
  • Refutation: That means no verifiable evidence was found, not proof of impossibility. Could be due to undiscovered devices, scope limits, or strategic omissions. Also, reporter Kevin Fixler says Lt. Gilbertson told him they know who PR is and it’s not BK — but this is second-hand, not an official public filing or release.
• Wrong predictions by PR
  • Claim: PR got victim locations and some sequence-of-events wrong — a killer would know.
  • Refutation: Could be intentional misdirection to blend in; early case info was chaotic, so wrong details don’t eliminate the possibility.
• Post-arrest PR activity
  • Claim: PR posted after BK’s arrest — impossible if BK was PR.
  • Refutation: Verified timeline shows original PR posts stopped before/around arrest; later “PR” posts were likely fake accounts or impostors.
• Profile photo coincidence
  • Claim: The photo could be stock or altered, and the resemblance is coincidental.
  • Refutation: True, but when combined with other parallels (style, timing, content), resemblance remains notable.
• Writing style mismatch
  • Claim: Amateur stylometry shows PR’s tone differs from BK’s writing.
  • Refutation: Methodology is subjective and unreliable; style can be intentionally altered.
• Posting time zone mismatch
  • Claim: PR’s activity patterns don’t align with Pullman, WA.
  • Refutation: Could be explained by VPN, unusual sleep habits, or scheduled posts.
• PR’s activity volume vs BK’s schedule
  • Claim: BK’s academic workload wouldn’t allow PR’s high posting frequency.
  • Refutation: His schedule had flexibility; activity-tracking claims are anecdotal.

This is also second hand, but in this Yahoo news piece, Lt Gilbertson acknowledged:

“But we also know that he deleted and wiped a lot of his devices, so we obviously don't know what he wiped or what wasn't there.”

so, until there is some official finding that LE has definitively identified someone other than BK to be PR, I think the issue is unresolved.
