CBP says my I-485 was denied, but USCIS says it is fine. Has anyone had this problem?

Self Post

Hi everyone,

I filed an I-485 and received my combo card (EAD + Advance Parole).

In July 2024, I entered the U.S. at JFK using the combo card. The CBP officer told me my case had been denied and that it would be the last time I could use it.

After I returned, I checked with USCIS and they confirmed my case was normal with no denial notice. I also filed a FOIA request to CBP, but they said they found no records related to my entry.

In August 2025, I traveled to Canada and entered the U.S. by land. The CBP officer again told me my case had been denied in July 2024 and that I should reapply for a combo card after entry.

Immediately after this trip, I contacted USCIS and spoke with a Tier 2 officer who confirmed that my case is completely fine. I also checked the SAVE system and found no incorrect records.

It seems CBP’s system is showing a denial that does not exist in USCIS records, which creates confusion every time I travel. Has anyone experienced this? How did you correct CBP’s records, and is there a way to contact them directly to fix this? Should I be concerned about future entries?

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.
