Olde Guarde Help Please

So, I've completed almost every requirement for Old Guard, but am stuck on the survive 35 rounds thing. Does anyone have any techniques for surviving even when your playing with crayon-eaters? Thanks. Also, are you supposed to have a total of 53 saves or 53 saves in one play. And does it have to be runner, shambler, or do both count?
