đź’ˇCould you help me sanity-check an idea for making BOM sourcing faster & cheaper?

Hey everyone,

I’m toying with an idea for a tool and I don’t want to waste time building something useless, so I’m hoping to get feedback from people who actually work with BOMs (bill of materials).

The concept:

  • You upload your BOM spreadsheet
  • The tool checks live pricing from suppliers (Digi-Key, Mouser, etc.)
  • It suggests pin-compatible alternatives that are cheaper or more available
  • It flags parts that might be obsolete soon

My questions for you:

  1. Is this something you’d find useful, or is it a “nice to have” at best?
  2. How are you currently handling sourcing & alternates?
  3. What’s the single biggest pain point you face with BOMs right now?

Any thoughts — positive or brutally honest — would be a huge help.

Thanks in advance!
