My 7 yr old autism level 2 always vomits when he gets sick = hospitalizations
My son started ABA mid February. He didn’t even make a whole week and he got sick, which is expected. Since he was a baby- he refuses to take oral medicine suspensions. You name it we tried it. Dad has to put him in the tub and coax him to drink it but will throw it up. He also refuses to swallow his own spit if he has a fever or sore throat so it just makes it worse so much faster with the vomiting and dehydration.
He’s been hospitalized 5 times since mid Feb. for dehydration, zofran doesn’t work all the time. He get tachycardic, lethargic, sugars get below normal, bicarbs same. Feb - April was the worst.
Just got D/C on Sunday from the most recent.
I’m looking into CVS to rule out.
Also, no fault of the ABA but we want to stop therapy because the his reactive vomiting from illness, not sure if we are doing the right thing.
