is it normal for your parents to have money and be well off but to never buy you nice things?

So basically my parents are well off but they don't like spending money on me and instead spend it on stupid expense stuff that no one needs. And when I ask my mom "why do you do never buy me anything expensive?" she just saids "I paid for your 5 grand autism diagnosis" which is stupid because that's just basic parenting.

And when I ask why they never buy me expensive things for my birthday she just says "we don't do expensive birthdays in this family" like wtf, everyone else my age who was well off parents gets expensive stuff for their birthdays but if I want that stuff I have to pay for it myself with my job money.

And i know for a fact my parents are well off because my mum is always buying random trips to england to see her family (and sometimes let me come with) and they buy expensive stuff for themselves but never for me. They only buy me the necessities and even when I was like a young kid for my birthday all I would get was clothes and books most of the time (fucking hate books)

Is this normal parenting? I'm 16 now almost 17 and I'm currently burning with envy because my friends just get the stuff they want given to them
