Baby still trying to latch after weaning - struggling first time mom

Weaning

Hi there- I am a first time mom and first time poster with a 7 month old little one looking for any advice, support, solidarity etc. while I struggle after weaning from breastfeeding.

TLDR: After weaning, I cannot let my baby latch any more due to a medication I am on, but she still tries to breastfeed and gets upset. It is breaking my heart and making it difficult for me to comfort her at night and hold her without her crying and pulling at me. Has anybody had any success in finding a way through the strange and depressing period between weaning and your baby getting used to breastfeeding no longer being an option?

More Detail:
Due to medical reasons I had to stop breastfeeding when she turned 7 months. I have to be on a medication that is too new to be certain of its safety while breastfeeding (I suffer from severe chronic migraines). I started breastfeeding and pumping when my baby was born, and then introduced formula around 5 months old to supplement. She likes the formula and does well on it. I started to slowly transition her her off of breastfeeding between 5-7 months so I could go on my medication so it was a gradual transition, and she even started to prefer the bottle to breastfeeding. Her eating well is not the problem. It is more of an emotional and logistical problem for me. Rocking her to sleep at night is hard because she just gets upset when I hold her in that position. I am so sad and feeling awful about needing to wean her for my own medical reasons, but going on medication will allow me to be a better parent and not be so affected by migraines. But I can't help but worry that I am upsetting her every time I hold her and hurting our connection. Has anybody had any success in finding a way through the strange and depressing period between weaning and your baby getting used to breastfeeding no longer being an option? I would appreciate hearing from anybody who has been through something similar even if you don't have any guidance. Thank you <3
