Is it just me or are hiring managers crazy nowadays?
So, I had a 2nd round interview with a private firm today. Selection of questions:
-
"you will be based in Virginia but responsible for the west coast subsidiary. You're totally welcome to come in closer to 9 and would you be okay with working later to accomodate them?"
-
"this isn't related to the interview and I'm just curious, but how long have you lived here?"
-
(after I mentioned leaving public accounting for industry to have more time for my younger sibling) "are you the primary caretaker?"
The position is fully in the office. Honestly, if the job listing said I'd be working with the west coast subsidiary, I'd not have wasted my time. Said subsidiary also is guaranteed to have accounting complications due to persistent understaffing (actually confirmed during the discussion).
They're also trying to set their higher range at 75k. Lol.
