Got Rejected from my local PD, seeking advice on what I should do next
TLDR: Application closed for an entry level LE position with no disclosure of reapplying timeframe, not sure if I should continue.
Title says it all, got rejected for applying to be a Special Municipal Constable (Jail Guard) in my local PD. To be very honest I figured that I wouldn't be considered this first time around, just because I don't have any law enforcement related experience, not even volunteering. (And the SMC position is an entry level position). As much as I have my assumptions as to why I may not have been considered, I don't want to make excuses and just want to continue doing what I can to make myself more competitive in the future.
The only concern I have is that my application was closed. Apparently I heard from people in the department, that if my application is closed, its pretty much indefinite, because if they wanted to see more qualities from you, they would've disclosed it on their letter and deferred you and tell you to apply some time in the future again. However, my closure letter simply just stated that I wouldn't be considered, and that they wish me luck on my future endeavours. There wasn't any disclosure telling me to reapply in a year or two, nothing. So right now, I don't even know whether I should continue pursuing my law enforcement career because if it's indefinite, then there's really nothing I can do anymore. I applied for one of their volunteering programs last month and went through a whole interview process, and I was rejected also.
If I'm being honest, in terms of experience, I'm definitely in a much better position right now compared to when I initially applied (currently doing volunteer work with the same local PD) and I'm in the process on joining the military as a reservist soon to gain more life experience.
For people who were rejected but weren't told when could they reapply, how did you maneuver this particular moment? Should I continue pursuing this?
