Ethics of using AI to take notes in college?

School & Career

Using a throwaway since I suspect I’ll be put through the wringer.

For context, in a vast majority of scenarios, I am extremely anti-AI. I’m going into a field that’s being threatened by it, and so if I could destroy AI, I would. Easily.

However. Despite being on medication, I’ve learned that it’s nearly impossible for me to take notes in class. In order to retain any information whatsoever, I practically have to be staring at the teacher. If there’s a piece of paper in front of me, I stare at that instead, for whatever dumbass reason, and retain absolutely nothing. It’s hell.

In this specific scenario, would I be too in the wrong for using AI to take class notes for me? Just one of those apps that records, transcribes, and summarizes. I’d be ashamed to do it, but I feel like I’m running out of options. Some of my professors don’t post their slides, so reviewing that way isn’t an option.
