Freeze drying vs dehydrating

Is it possible to do this? Complete shroom noob here. I understand that dehumidifiers are more attainable for the home grower or field hunter, and so seems to be the most common method of preserving mushrooms via desiccation.

But if the goal is to heat dehumidify to the point of “cracker dry” Wouldn’t freeze drying be a superior methodology (if available)

I’ve searched on the efficacy of freeze drying psychoactive mushrooms - but have found no data.

What say you experts?
