(US) Uber Eats scam I haven’t seen anyone talked about

I’ve been doing Uber eats for a few days now and I just got an order about an hour ago, right after accepting the order, I got a phone call saying that I was reported by one of my previous customers because I did not look like the person on my profile.

They will cancel my order without any penalty to me so they can ask me some questions. They asked for my phone number, color of my car, and last two member of license plate.

They then told me to get my verification completed, I needed to do this convoluted thing where I need to send them a confirmation code using zelle (they keep saying it’s a third party apps for fairness.) I needed to “give” them a verification number using the “pay” feature, basically sending them 999.99 dollar.

I knew that they were scammer at this point. So I started scambaiting them to see what I can get out but didn’t really found anything interesting, I did got him swear in frustration after 30 minute so I see it as a win.

Now that I’m writing this out, I just remember I heard the “you are talking to a customer” thing at the start so I feel stupid now.

I think the only important detail they got out of me was my phone number so it didn’t end too badly.

Im just typing this out to spread awareness and I hope none of you get to experience this.
