Kado’s Late Save in Chapter Six—Not a Redemption Arc, a Reckoning

Just finished Chapter Six of Consumed by Evolution, and Kado’s “save” hit like a gut punch. It’s not the classic last-minute rescue—it’s too late for that. The choreography is brutal: rope weapon spirals, a half-second delay, and then the aftermath. No triumphant music, no cheers. Just silence and consequence. What I love is how it reframes the idea of a hero’s timing. Kado doesn’t arrive to prevent the fall—he arrives to witness it, to carry it. That moment where he catches the body, not to save but to bear the weight… it’s mythic, tragic, and so human. Anyone else feel like this scene flipped the usual “redemption arc” trope on its head? Would love to hear how others interpreted it.
