Supported and Valued
I am not bragging. I know how hard this job is and the heart it takes to stay in it. But for the first time in years, I was excited for the first day of school. It was amazing to feel that same eagerness that I started with years ago, but had lost, buried for years now under all the nonsense that comes along with this profession. I am feeling optimistic and energized. I know we face huge challenges in the United States at the moment, and for me and others teaching in Texas, it has all just felt like a lost cause. I've battled with leaving teaching all together, and seriously considered leaving the state as well. But one great first day of school, surrounded by staff I am proud to know and students eager to be back, gave me some hope. And it was SO needed. Maybe we can turn this bus around. Maybe I can be part of those who stand for the teachers and students in public education. I won't be chased out by ignorance and greed. Thank you all who make this worthwhile. Thank you for your heart and dedication! 🖤
