Athena and Callum Novel - Anyone know where I can find it?

❓ Question ❓

I sat in the car, thinking back to what Lila had said. "Callum is the father of my baby. That night - the day you were away on business,we had intercourse all night." "You're lying... He won't..." She touched her slightly bulging belly"If you don't believe me, you can stay and see for yourself.Callum is on his way. " That coulden't be true, Callum would never... A black Range Rover stopped in front of me. The familiar figure jumped out of the truck with a shopping bag in his hand. My heart stopped beating. I picked up the phone and called him immediately. "Hey!" I said quickly."Where are you?" "Mark and I are just hanging out for a little while. I'll see you at home later, baby. Love you." His voice cuts off before I have a chance to respond. I feel like I'm going to throw up. ———————— It has been two weeks since Callum and I enjoyed a night together. I've been spending a lot of my time at my dance studio and with Kari. Callum has been busier than ever and he barely has been home. It's strange and I want him here more than anything. But I feel like whatever he has been up to has been stressing him out because he's been very distant. I didn't want to let that bother me though because tonight he was coming home and I planned to have a family night. I was making dinner for him and tonight I decided to make lasagna. I had just finished putting the garlic bread in the oven when I heard the front door open and close. A second later Callum called out that he was home. He walked into the kitchen, and smiled at me before pulling me in his arms and smooching me. "It smells amazing in here. I am starving. But before I can eat, I need to go take a shower." He pulled his shirt over his head and I frowned when I noticed that there were blood stains on it. "What did you do today?" I was almost too afraid to ask, but I took the shirt from him. "I had some business to handle. But that's all that you need to know." He smooched the top of my head before walking out of the kitchen. Just as I was about to walk over to the oven to take out the lasagna, his phone started to vibrate on the counter. I didn't want to invade his privacy, so I decided against picking it up and looking at it. After about a second it stopped and I was happy. Just as I was taking the lasagna out of the oven his phone started to buzz again. I frowned and set the lasagna down before walking over to his phone and picking it up. The name on the screen was Lila and I frowned. Who was she? Without thinking twice, I answered the phone quickly. "Hey, where are you? You said that you were coming over today." Hearing a woman's voice on the phone almost gave me a panic attack. I felt like I was going to throw up as I clutched the counter for support. "Who are you?" The phone went silent before disconnecting. I felt like my heart was pounding in my chest. Who was she, and why was he going anywhere with her? I knew better than to jump to conclusions, but this was strange. "I forgot my." I turned around when I heard his voice. He looked at my phone in his hand and frowned. "What are you doing?" "No, the question is what are you doing? Who is Lila? Why is she calling your phone? Answer me." He walked over to me and snatched his phone from my hand. "I told you not to do that. You don't go through my phone." "I didn't go through your phone. It was going off because she was calling back-to-back. Who is she? Does she know that you are married and have a son?" He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "Athena, don't do this right now." Alonzo started to cry in the living room, and he cursed under his breath. "No, what you are not about to do is turn this around on me. I am your wife and I have every right to know what is going on. Who is she and I don't want to have to ask you again." I placed my hand on my hip and waited patiently for him to speak. "I told you, it's none of your business." "Okay," I whispered. I walked past him quickly trying to get away from him. I picked Alonzo up from his playpen and headed towards the door. If he wanted to play this game, we could play. I was not about to be made a fool out of or have my heart broken. "Where are you going?" "That is none of your business. I'm not about to sit here and be made a fool out of. I'm not about to sit here and have you lie to my face about a woman calling your phone. I'm leaving and I'm taking the baby with me." I tried to open the front door, but he stopped me. "You are not going anywhere. You are making this more of a big deal than what it is." "I'm not making this a big deal, you are. Answer the question, Callum. Who is she? STOP LYING TO ME. WHO IS LILA?" Alonzo started to cry after I raised my voice. "You're scaring him, give him to me." He reached for him, but I pushed his hand away. I rubbed his back gently and tried to soothe him. "It's okay, mommy is sorry," I whispered smooching his head. I knew that I needed to calm down because I was only going to upset my son. I closed my eyes and counted to three. I took a deep breath and looked at my husband. "Callum...Romano, answer me. If you lie to me again, I'm leaving I swear to God." "My new assistant." Assistant? Was I hearing him correctly? "And you didn't tell me about this assistant because?" "I want to spend more time with you and I can't balance everything. Between booking my trips and all of my meetings, I'm losing my mind. I needed someone to help me organize things. So, I hired her. It's that simple, Athena. Do you really think that I would cheat on you?" "You should've said that from the beginning." I put Alonzo back in his playpen and headed back into the kitchen to finish dinner. I wasn't happy about this new assistant, but what else could I do? "Baby girl, I love you." "Love you too," I mumbled. I was just so upset. I wanted to know what was going on in my husband's life and it wasn't fair that I didn't. He came up behind me and smooched the back of my head. "You're mad at me." I turned around to face him. "Yes, I'm very mad at you. I feel like I'm in the dark all the time. You don't tell me anything and now you hire some woman to organize your meetings and stuff. She knows more than I do and I am your wife. It's not fair." "I just want to keep you safe. The less you know the better." "But why?" "Because you are my wife and the mother of my child. You are innocent in all of this. You don't need to be involved with what I have going on. I don't want to have a target over your head because they feel like you are involved with the mafia business." "But I am a mafia leaders' wife. I am a mafia leaders' daughter. I know that you want to protect me and I appreciate it, but you can't shelter me. You can't hire people to work for you and then keep me in the dark about it." "I don't understand you at all. This is what you wanted, Athena. You wanted a normal life, and I'm giving that to you. You wanted no part of the mafia, and so I chose to leave you out of it. Yes, you are my wife. I will tell you whatever you need to know, and I need you to trust me. I want what is best for you and my son." "Fine, I'll trust you until you give me a reason not to."

It has been two months and I am officially four months pregnant. Things between my husband and I have been great. We have been spending a lot more time together and we go on dates. Callum is very attentive and pays a lot more attention to me. He rubs my stomach and talks to the baby. He has been spending a lot more time helping me with the nursery. He decided to take a break on the amount of business trips that he was taking. I told him that I wanted him home more and he gave me what I wanted. I love how much we have come together over these last few weeks. We haven't had any arguments and we have a lot of intercourse. I had to deep clean the house, and I had just finished loading the dishwasher, so now I needed a snack break. Just as I pulled a package of grapes out of the refrigerator, the doorbell rang. I frowned; I wasn't expecting anyone today. Alonzo was with the babysitter so that I could get my cleaning done. I picked up my phone and pulled up the front door camera. To my surprise Lila was standing there holding a basket of muffins. I didn't know why she was here, but I didn't want to be rude either. She was my husband's assistant, and she has been doing everything she can to make sure that him and I got more time together. I walked to the front door, and pulled it open. Her whole face seemed to light up when she saw me. "Hello, how are you?" She stepped inside, "I'm doing great. I was in the neighborhood, and I decided to drop these blueberry muffins by. I know this bakery that has the best baked sweets, and I wanted to share it with you and Callum." I took the basket from her and smiled. "Thank you, that was so thoughtful. They smell and look delicious, I'm pretty sure that we are going to enjoy these." She looked down at my stomach and frowned. "Oh my God, I didn't know that you were pregnant." I laughed a little and started to walk towards the kitchen. "Yeah, we haven't been telling people. Can I get you something to drink?" She seemed a little taken aback by the fact that I was pregnant. I didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. She regained her composure and forced a smile. "Yes, a glass of water would be nice." We walked into the kitchen and she took a seat at the kitchen island. I walked over to the refrigerator, and pulled out a bottle of water. I handed it to her and she thanked me. I stood there awkwardly because I had never been alone with her before. I didn't feel like there was much for us to talk about because she works for my husband. But I didn't want to be rude, so I tried to strike up a conversation. "So, I hope that my husband is treating you right. As far as you working for him. I know that he can be a lot to handle." She swallowed the water in her mouth. "He is an amazing boss and I could never ask for better. But enough about me, I want to know more about you. How did you meet a man like him?" "That is a very long story that I would rather not get into." She laughed a little, "I totally understand. So, how do you feel about being pregnant? Is this something that you two wanted or was it an accident? How did Callum take the news?" "It was a surprise, but it wasn't a bad thing. We wanted to give Alonzo a sibling, but we just didn't know when would be the right time. We planned to have more children just not so soon. But I'm happy about it and so is he and that's all that matters I guess." "I think that is so sweet. Callum is such a sweet man and you are a lucky woman to have him. Can you still dance in your condition though? I know that you have that big performance coming up." "Thank you, it's hard sometimes but it's worth it. I can still dance, which is great for me. The show will go on." I placed my hand on my stomach and started to rub it gently, and it seemed like she stared. She wouldn't take her eyes off my stomach and I couldn't decipher if it was curiosity or something else. "So, you have been pregnant for a few months." "Yes, I'm four months pregnant. I have five more to go and I'm already exhausted." She giggled, "I can't wait to experience it myself. I just find it odd that Callum didn't mention it to me. He invited me over for wine one night when you were in Florida, and it seemed like something was bothering him, but he didn't want to tell me." I frowned; he had let her in the house at night while I was gone? Why didn't he mention that to me? I didn't want to come off as upset, so I decided to play it cool. "Oh, he had you over while I was gone?" "Yeah, it was late and he invited me in. We had a few glasses of wine, and then he let me sleep in the guestroom. I thought that it was so sweet and thoughtful. I hope that you don't mind though." I forced to smile, "of course not." ... Alonzo and I had dinner and then I gave him a bath and put him to bed. Callum was coming in late once again, which wasn't surprising. I was sitting in the bed doing some work on my laptop and he walked into the bedroom. He smiled at me and I forced a smile back. It had been bugging me all day that he didn't tell me about his late night with his assistant. "I'm sorry that I'm late, it's been a busy day." "It's fine," I whispered, closing my laptop. "So, your assistant stopped by today and she brought muffins." He frowned and then shook his head. "I told her that she can't keep popping up at the house. I think it's nice that she did that, but she doesn't need to keep coming here. Especially without letting me know first." Why did it bother him so much that she came unannounced?
