I’m dreaming of a spiritual successor to NFL Street… but without the NFL
Hear me out: imagine NFL Street — the over-the-top, arcade football with crazy tackles and trick moves — but with no NFL license, no restrictions, just pure street football chaos.
Here’s what I’ve been thinking so far:
Locations:
- Parking lot outside a high school lunchroom
- Field in the middle of the walking track outside
- High school football stadium for Friday night lights/franchise mode
- Someone’s backyard
- Soccer field near a skatepark
- Mall parking lot
Each area would have its own vibe, and even the uniforms change depending on where you play — hoodies and cargo shorts in the parking lot, casual backyard clothes for backyard games, streetwear in the mall lot, and full stylized jerseys in the stadium.
Art style:
- Almost like NFL Street, but cel-shaded for a bold, vibrant look.
- Characters have exaggerated proportions, big expressive animations, and unique silhouettes.
- Environments are colorful, gritty, and full of street art, with stylized lighting and dynamic effects on tackles, passes, and trick plays.
Gameplay idea:
- Mix of arcade football with environmental hazards and interactive obstacles (trampolines, benches, half-pipes, cars).
- Fast-paced, over-the-top, and customizable — you could create your own team, your own look, your own street football story.
I really want to see a game that captures the fun and swagger of NFL Street without being tied down by licensing, realism, or the same old stadiums.
Would anyone else play a game like this?
