To the friend who shook my world, I wish you the best.

Dear T,

Honestly, I don't really know why I'm writing this letter. Maybe my goal is to gain some form of closure or maybe this letter will help me process my feelings more by reflecting. Either way, I know the likelihood of you reading this is practically zero percent, but it's those shots in the dark that are most worth exploring in life, no?

I remember when we met, you had read a previous letter I wrote for my dream girl on Reddit and complimented my writing, even going as far as calling it eloquent. Your kind words on my writing meant the world to me, especially because I love to write (though I sadly don't do it enough) and hope to have a career in Narrative Design one day.

Meeting you was like a breath of fresh, you were unlike anyone I ever met. From the start, you were able to read me like an open book and genuinely seemed to want to get to know me. Though we had only known each other roughly a couple of weeks, it felt like we had been friends forever. Our daily talks despite the massive time difference, our short time together spent on mobile uno absolutely destroying other duos, and learning more about your culture and religion really etched a unique mark into my soul. You even convinced me to step out of my comfort zone and send you a voice note of me reading a short little passage to you. In the moment, I admittedly felt really silly doing that, but those feelings quickly evaporated when you expressed how happy it made you.

Of course, the more I got to know you, the more I started to fall for you. Being able to read me so well helped you of course because you were able to draw boundaries really delicately without me taking your rejection personally. We agreed to remain friends, though I had to take the rest of the night off from communicating to try and get my sudden surge of feelings to quiet down.

Unfortunately, it was two days later you decided we couldn't remain friends anymore, clarifying it wasn't my fault, but our voice note exchanges brought up lingering feelings of your ex and that you felt the reading voice note that you asked me for was too intimate of a thing for friends to do. Knowing I would probably try to sit and talk with you about it and try to change your mind, you apologized and went as far as calling yourself an asshole before blocking me, not giving me the chance to even acknowledge our sudden loss of friendship.

I was honestly pretty gutted. In that short amount of time you made a lasting impact on me, and I am really sad we had to let that dissolve. If you ever see this, I want you to know I never considered you an asshole for letting our friendship go. Though I was sad, your peace and happiness are far more important to me, and I am sorry I couldn't provide that to you, even in friendship. If you ever change your mind and want to reconnect, I want you to know I will always welcome you back into my life with open arms.

If our paths don't ever cross again, I want you to know you opened my eyes to what I hope to have in the future with the girl of my dreams. I hope to discuss astrology to gain a better insight of each other like we did, I hope to send the silly voice notes and even read to her, and I hope she values the sentimental aspects of life like my letters, the same way you found my words to be intriguing and beautifully written.

I miss you, but I don't hate you or hold any anger towards you. I realize your abrupt exit was a way to protect both of us, an act of mercy even. I will always appreciate the kindness you showed me and the things you taught me in our short time spent as friends. I hope we meet again in the future, and if not, I wish you the best.

From your friend, Trust

P.s. I binge watched Avatar The Last Airbender, my second foray into anime as per your suggestion, and absolutely loved it. The life lessons and story were incredible, thank you for the personal recommendation!
