Raul Reyes (Ray Reyes's brother) said many members of all the generations (4) of Menudo were abused in some capacity.

12-year-old Ray Reyes became a member of Menudo in early 1983.

Interview with Ray Reyes' brother: "My brother always told me that they made sexual comments and insinuations to him (in Menudo), and it was quite uncomfortable for him. I always, in my innocence, didn't dare to ask him more. But I noticed that 8 months after Ray joined the group, his happiness turned into a tragedy. There was one time when he returned to Puerto Rico for only 2 days after a trip, and when he had to travel again with the band, he started whining, he didn't want to go on the trip, and my mother tried to convince him to go. That's when we knew something was going on. From the beginning we saw that there was a lot of labor exploitation, 12-hour work days."

Miguel Cancel has fond memories of being in the group and never witnessed anything of the sort. But he does recall (he mentions it twice) that he moved to California as a teen back in the 80s and 90s and remembers the rumors. Jonathan Montenegro witnessed an episode of violence when he was a member of Menudo, and although he knew of allegations of sexual abuse within the group, he did not witness any of them. He claims that in his time, Menudo members were poorly paid.

>(He said it was Edgardo Diaz who was beating one of the group members because the young boy got body paint from a fake tattoo he had on his body on a couch (that got stained). [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajXIbRzYaoM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajXIbRzYaoM)

"Damarisse Martínez, who deeply researched Menudo’s history for her book, recalled hearing rumors about Roy in the ’90s. “One thing that stayed with me, and I remember it as if it were yesterday, was an allegation of a relationship between Roy Rosselló and the creator of Menudo. At the time, due to a lack of verifiable evidence, I chose not to include it in the book. But years later, when I heard Roy’s public allegations, I was struck by how similar they were to the stories told to me by people close to the group,” she admitted." - Robert Rand Instagram

"Among the testimonies aired on Carmen Jovet’s show was that of Raül Reyes, brother of former Menudo member Ray Reyes. Raül, who occasionally worked with the band, claimed that during a trip to Orlando, Florida, he opened a door while looking for his luggage and saw Edgardo Díaz lying naked in bed with a Menudo member.
At the time, he did not name the boy he saw. But years later, in Peacock’s 2023 documentary Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed, he identified the young man as Roy Rosselló. " - Robert Rand Instagram.

"Robert Rand, who executive produced the documentary, explained that “Roy initially revealed some information about Edgardo Díaz on a Brazilian talk show in 2014, and later appeared in various Hispanic media outlets,” where he detailed his allegations of sexual abuse by Díaz." – Robert Rand Instagram.

"Weeks before the docuseries "Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed," Raúl Reyes, brother of former Menudo member Ray Reyes, recounted the day he saw singer Rosselló and former manager Edgardo Díaz in bed." Miguel Cancel remembers the allegations back then.
