Will in-serving meetings be like this forever?

New Teacher

Hey! I’m a first year teacher and I’m wondering if there anyone else experiencing this. Whenever I attend a PD meeting at my school, like in-service days, I experience one of two types of meeting depending on who is running it. If it’s someone from my Admin team, it’s quick, to the point, and pretty much essential information. The meetings aren’t short by any means but I feel like I gained a lot of from everything discussed. When they hire an outside “motivational speaker” type person to discuss things with us, we’re treated like children. Not in a “I’m the teacher you all act like the students” kind of helpful demonstration, but in a kind of demeaning way? Maybe I’m crazy? Like filling out silly “icebreaker” worksheets or drawing on posters instead of giving us essential info and letting us work in our room. Maybe I’m just super type A and don’t enjoy those things but I wish I had more classroom time and less time in these long silly meetings. Is this pretty typical?
