Has anyone made the jump from MMO DMing?

Hi,

So, I’ve spent a lot of time roleplaying in MMOs. I was a DM in SWTOR especially. It’s not quite the same as TTRPGs, but we had rulesets, roll systems, character sheets, etc etc

Anyway, I’d like to jump to DMing real TTRPGs. I’ve tried in the past, but always gotten cold feet. I’ve always felt comfortable DMing in MMOs, but something feels frightening about actual TTRPGs. I think I feel like an imposter.

Anyway. I’m in a bad place, and I think trying to pursue DMing would greatly help my mental health.

If anyone else here started out DMing in MMOs, how did you make the jump? If you didn’t start out, but have done both, are there key differences you might not expect?
