How to help LO deal with “mean kids”
Her words not mine! She’s in the toddler class with kids from 18 months - 2.5years, she’s currently just over two. We work great hours so she’s only there 8:30-3 most days, and from 3 has one on one time playing til dinner at 5, where we really work on sharing, not hitting, saying we are frustrated, you name it. Really seeing some great responses from her (when she’s not hungry lol).
I need help with helping her deal with kids at daycare that DONT share, or listen when told no, don’t respect body bubbles (aka, all normal behaviours). She just takes it at daycare, then at home almost hyper focuses on what happened. She got bit 6 months ago and there’s a scar still, so she brings that up nearly every bath time. She got hit and that comes up so much we have trouble telling if it’s that day or the incident we got called about. I just got another call where she got whacked with a toy hard enough to leave a lump on the head due to not giving up the toy she was playing with.
What should I tell her to do (other than reassure her that’s not expected behaviour and she’s safe at daycare etc)? I feel like I’m letting her down by reinforcing all this good behaviour but not giving her tools to handle or avoid being hurt at daycare
