What companies actually have a career ladder?
Hello! I was curious if people knew of companies that actually offer a way to “climb through the ranks.” I’m working at Walgreens now, and after three years here I learned that moving past a shift lead is near impossible. That stops any movement from a $19 an hour pay cap (which I’m still years away from) to a 50k+ starting salary. With the job market right now, my lack of schooling and skills, I really can’t find any way of branching out to a different career type that offers a livable wage or less than 65 hours a week on commission alone. I was wondering if you guys would know some companies that actually offer careers to move up through, aiming more for retail area but any are welcome.
For context, I’m 21, I went to college and got a 2 year certificate in entrepreneurship, and have been working in customer service, retail and fast food since I was 14 and could get my workers permit. I haven’t bounced around much, the shortest time in a job was only a year, my other two have both been around 3 years each.
