For people in Semi Independent living, how is it? I’m in Michigan
Hello guys. I’m a no support needs autistic guy. I’m basically completely independent like a neurotypical person. I can drive, I can work, I can basically do anything that the normal person can do
I am on SSI and stuck with a very controlling mother. I don’t get any money for food or gas for my car. When I would try looking for a job, she would threaten to take the car away. I had to mooch of my grandma a lot for the necessities. Before then, I had a full time job and supported myself
I’m leaving the situation soon and I’m looking for housing. I want to be free. I want to be able to work full time eventually and I’ll like my own house. I’m my own legal guardian
I’m worried that I’m going to lose my rights and control over my life. I won’t be able to go fishing when I want to, I won’t be able to work a normal 9-5, I won’t be able to leave unless in a group
I honestly don’t need any support. I cook, clean, do lawn work and I fix my car and appliances. I’ve had experience in the skilled trades.
I think I’m not the best at socializing but when I tell people I have autism, they’ll say “I didn’t know you were autistic. I thought you were just smart.” I’m technically not smart though. I just have autism and an average IQ
