Background- Type 1 Von Willebrand Disease always covered in bruises and need bandaids for paper cuts due to bleeding.

Timeline- June 29th: 12 am slipped on wet step and came down on the last step. Instantly had a tiny straight line of bruise. Throughout the morning the bruise continued to spread. By 7 pm my entire butt cheek was bruised and it was hot and painful. Went to urgent care but they were unfamiliar with Von Willebrands and said to just keep watching it.

June 30th: Bruise continues to keep spreading. Call hematologist and they make me an afternoon appointment. Take one look at me and send me to ER for DDAVP infusion. Hematologist suggested a CT but hospital sent me on my way after treatment. Hematologist was worried about the hematoma so continued to call and check on progress.

July 2nd: Bruise is still continuing to spread and get darker in color. Hematologist called me first thing in the morning and did not like that so he called in tranexamic acid prescription to start immediately. 7 days 2 pills 3 times a day. Recommended to take whole bottle.

July 4th: Bruise finally getting lighter in the middle. 

July 7th: Entire inside of bruise is back to normal color leaving just a purple outline of the hematoma.

July 11th: Just left with faint bruising on the outline but overall, hematoma is healed. Can feel a hard lump in the middle but no pain.

August 7th: Pain in hip. Hurts to walk. Look at hip and notice a lump where hematoma was. It is soft and hurts to touch.

August 8th: Send picture to hematologist office, my Dr is on vacation. Another Dr in office tells me to come in. Does not think there is residual bleeding but did not have any concerns.

Now August 13th: Lump is still there.

You can see it through jeans. It is still soft and hurts when I touch it. Walked with a limp for a few weeks but I don't notice a limp anymore. Pain in hip area on and off. I don't think it's anything to do with bleeding but is this normal hematoma healing? The lump showed up over a month after the injury. I don't want to keep bothering my hematologist office if I am being dramatic!
