What to know before setting up your first greenhouse? Beginner tips from ClimaPod Greenhouses
Setting up a greenhouse for the first time can feel overwhelming — but with a few smart choices up front, you’ll save yourself time, money, and frustration.
Here are some key tips from our team at ClimaPod:
1. Pick the right time of year
Spring is the instinctive choice, but it’s also peak season — prices can rise and lead times may stretch. Starting in autumn or winter often means better availability, lower prices, and you’ll be ready to plant as soon as spring arrives.
2. Get the location right
Aim for a spot with at least 6 hours of winter sun, minimal shade, and protection from strong winds. Positioning north–south can help with even light distribution.
3. Don’t underestimate ventilation
Good airflow is essential for plant health. Include vents, fans, or operable windows to control temperature, humidity, and air circulation.
4. Think about size from the start
Extending a greenhouse lengthwise is easy — but changing the width later is difficult. Plan carefully so you won’t outgrow it too soon.
