Vent: Lab results/hormones
I’ve had such an exhausting and invalidating experience with my provider surrounding my PCOS. I was diagnosed in my early teens and my first symptom was absence of menstrual cycles. Speed up a few years and more symptoms arose: acne, abdominal fat, inability to lose weight, body hair, dark marks on skin, fatigue, hair loss, abdominal bloating, and ovarian cysts. I am in my 30s and finally had enough and wanted to get down to the bottom rather than mask my symptoms with another doctor dismissing my concerns. I have been eating healthy, working out 4 days a week doing Pilates, and remaining in a calorie deficit with no results, despite doing this for over 3 months now.
Are these numbers jumping out at anyone? I could not tolerate Metformin ER and my doctor had me on 500 mg. I only tried it one day and had horrible sharp abdominal pain. I vomitted and of course had the classic diarrhea. I made sure to take it with food as well.
I finally had a full panel done and here are my results.
Fasting Lipids Cholesterol: 241 Triglycerides: 171 HDL: 61 Low density lipoproteins: 146
Fasting glucose: 93 Insulin: 14 Homa IR: 3.2
FSH: 8.4 LH: 20.2 C-reactive protein: 0.5
I am 5’3” and 137lbs.
Feeling lost, defeated, and frustrated.
I am not sure what else to do to help with weight and now I’m worried about my triglycerides, cholesterol, and becoming pre diabetic.
