Passport Processing Question

Hello, I recently applied for my first Canadian passport from the U.S. as a dual citizen. My application and supporting documents should arrive in Gatineau tomorrow. I’m wondering what happens next once everything is received. Will I automatically be given a reference number for my application, or do I need to reach out to get one? Thanks in advance!
