Filipino queens have the homecourt advantage. But I'm not so sure how I should feel when Filipino contestants and judges speak Tagalog during judging.
I observed that Slaysian Royale adopts a format similar to Vs. The World. This is a Filipino production in the Philippines. So nasa bakuran natin sila.
But I feel off when the Filipino drag queens and judges speak Tagalog during judging and Q&A.
I feel the foreign judge (Jimbo, so far) and non-Filipino queens are left out in what's supposed to be a transparent process. Madame Yoko's French answer in the Q&A was very telling for me. Or I'm just overthinking. Or sana may translator sila. Idk.
In other Vs. The World franchises, at least they can all more or less understand each other because they speak English. But I think I have to give credit to production. Afaik, this is the first non native English production with a Vs. The World format. This a whole new territory. So navigating it is a process.
But still, with production done and episodes are more or less finished with editing, I think as an audience I just have to process this personal ick alone.
