What are your thoughts on someone who chooses independence from others even if not the most financially stable?

Especially leaving family, but leaving a partner also counts

And especially leaving toxic folk in such cases

Seems to be judged in my family (and imo I feel like be happy for anyone willing to take that risk and who's managed) but wondering everyone else's thoughts
