Any way to get clay if you can't find any?

been searching for clay all over and can't find any. I know with copper you can try panning for it. Sort of like a built in bad luck protection. Is there an alternative way to get clay if it doesn't turn up?

Sorry if this is a dumb question I'm a new player. Rain is common where I'm at and this is the area I've explored searching for clay so far.
