Texas Chainsaw Massacre Cinematography
I just rewatched the original TCM and I noticed that both the opening and closing shots have the same color scheme of warm hues. Bright reds, oranges, and yellows. It’s really quite beautiful. I refuse to believe that it was accidentally shot this way. Yeah, I know this was a notoriously hard shoot bc of the extreme Texas heat but do any cinematographers know what this is called when a movie has the same color scheme at both the beginning and the end? Also, how did Tobe get so much color in those shots? Is this a lost art now having to do with film development? Anyway, I think it’s pretty phenomenal that a movie known for its horror has such beautiful visual harmony.
